People continue to ask me what it is about photography that captivates me.
One day I reckon we’ll be able to wire up our brains, and record real time. Editing the precious frames captured as we see them. I’ve still got some really cool, but slightly fuzzy footage stored in there from 20 years ago…
Ripple fade to…
Dusky pink galas rolling over the top of each other, keeping pace with the open driver’s side window, as we cruised in an old jalopy across the seemingly endless Australian desert.
(if you think gold fish are hypnotic)… buzzing their wings, climbing to the top of the twenty odd group, tucked in they’d roll round to the bottom; the station wagon and birds slowly intersecting. These exotic creatures seemed to be unaware of our presence as they drifted over the front of the bright aluminium bull bar. Then, slowly pan over to our left, until, nothing but the desert and the road.
One day I’ll show you this. Until then I mourn for that split second, unrecorded, lost forever.
